We had some great presentations by people working in every aspect of the built environment, community health and policy; and also amazing beer, tamales, and music. Urban Biofilter in [Un]Restricted Access, Venice Biennale

We recently submitted our “Ecological Processing Zone” site design and planning for the former Oakland Army Base to Architecture For Humanity’s [Un]Restricted Access, Open Architecture Challenge and won Second Place in the “Environmental Impact” section. Our work is on display at the prestigious Venice Biennale through the 25th of November!

Greywater Installation at the Maker Faire

Urban Biofilter set up a greywater, biofilter installation at this year’s Bay Area Maker Faire as part of the “Homegrown Village”, the area of the faire showcasing DIY biology-based installations and projects. Urban Biofilter’s installation, which included a sink for public use and a series of mobile biofilters that processed greywater from the sink, was awarded Make Magazine’s Editor’s Choice Award for the area.
